galagraphia:

Kay storms into their house, looking for the potions and arrows she has been preparing for weeks… And finds Vilkas, brooding more than ever and drinking something stronger than mead. He knows.
She drops her pack and takes a sit next to her husband.
“Tell me I misheard,” he says. “About Sovngarde.”
“No,” what’s the point of lying to him now? Maybe these words will be the last said to him? “No, Vilkas, I must go.”
“No one ever returned,” he goes on, staring into his mug, and there’s grief in his voice.
“Maybe I will?” she smiles. “I’ll see Kodlak and tell him that we are doing well, maybe Ysgramor will be there too? And maybe your father? Do you want me to say hello?”
“I want you here, alive,” he finally meets her gaze, and pulls her head closer, untill her forehead is pressed to his. “I know I can’t go with you now…”
“No, not this time, Vilkas, not this time!” Kay whispers.
“…but if you won’t return, I will go after you,” he frowns. “I’d sworn I will always fight at your side, and I’ll keep that promise.”
His last kiss has a bitter taste, but Kay believes it will bring her luck. She will need it.

That’s great - thanks!
